Tim Whitmer, the Aaron Broussard aide who admitted covering up crimes during the former Jefferson Parish president's administration, had his sentencing date postponed Tuesday. U.S. District Judge Mary Ann Vial Lemmon delayed the hearing from Nov. 29 to May 13.

The deferral was jointly requested by Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Chester and Whitmer's defense attorney, Pat Fanning, "due to the continuing cooperation of the defendant," according to court records.

Whitmer is one of five defendants who have pleaded guilty to crimes stemming from the Broussard administration.Broussard, former parish attorney Tom Wilkinson and Broussard's ex-wife, Karen Parker, are scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 25. Kenner businessman Bill Mack's sentencing is set Jan. 10, although the government is seeking to postpone it for six months.
