Tea time: The levies will support British jobs, says Emma Bridgewater

The boss of pottery firm Emma Bridgewater says the new EU tariffs on Chinese ceramic imports will save jobs in Britain.

The levies punish Chinese makers of ceramic tableware for allegedly selling them below cost, a practice known? as ?dumping?.

Matthew Rice said: ?It?s an uneven playing field as the Chinese subsidise their ceramic industry ? giving them energy and property for free ? whereas we are buying ours. Understandably also they benefit from the different wage levels in Stoke in Shanghai. The tariff [which started on Friday] should help support jobs in Stoke.?
