India?s Bhuvneshwar Kumar led a resurgent bowling attack to topple England for 158 all out as the hosts won the second One-Day International in Kochi by 127 runs, levelling the series 1-1.
The paceman needed just 15 balls to fire through the tourists? top-order dismissing Alastair Cook (17), Kevin Pietersen (44) and Eoin Morgan for a second ball duck.
Spin twins Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 3-39, and Ravi Jadeja assisted by dismantling England?s lower order to ensure India comfortable defended their score of 285.
MS Dhoni had earlier blasted 72 off 66 balls with Jadeja, who had a fantastic all-round performance, facing 37 balls for his 61 not out before picking up two for 12 off seven overs.
England made one change to the winning side from Rajkot with Warwickshire all-rounder Chris Woakes replacing Tim Bresnan, who had a niggle with his knee.
Cook lost the toss and was asked to bowl but England found some purchase in the pitch early on taking two quick wickets inside the first five overs which had India rocking on 18.
Jade Dernbach and Steven Finn both got the ball to move through the air and off the pitch to clatter the stumps of India?s opening batsmen.
Gautam Gambhir succumbed first when Dernbach swung one through the gate before Finn bowled Ajinkya Rahane playing around the ball.
Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli went some way to repairing the damage putting together a fifty partnership steadying the ship somewhat.
But in the 10th over, Alastair Cook turned to spin after the initial success of England?s seamers, bringing on Samit Patel and then Rajkot hero, James Tredwell.
The switch brought rewards straight away when Yuvraj was adjudged leg-before off the Kent bowler sweeping - a decision that the left-hander did not take too kindly too.
Replays showed the ball may have made contact with the glove before hitting the pad. Without the use of DRS for the series there was little Yuvraj could do.
Kohli looked like he was working himself back into form until he lobbed a simple catch to Bell on the cover boundary. The 24-year-old was rightly livid with himself.
Poor shot selection once again cost Raina, who was well set after notching his 26th ODI fifty, inexplicably chopped on playing a rash shot across the line.
However, captain Dhoni found a reliable partner in Jadeja with the pair hitting 90 off 60.
Woakes was treated with particular disdain by the latter being hit for 24 in his final two overs as India scored 285.
In reply, England lost Ian Bell flaying at wide Shami Ahmed ball for one but a measured approach from Pietersen and Cook ensured England stayed on course.
Kumar had other ideas. But on 58, Cook was out despite the ball looking like it had pitched out the line leg stump. England?s captain walked off with much better grace than Yuvraj had.
Four overs later, Kumar the bowler, England lost Pietersen bowled for 42 and Morgan for a second ball duck to leave them teetering on 73-4, still 212 from their target.
Kumar had taken three of England?s top order out of the equation in 15 balls costing eight runs.
It would have to be the relatively unknown quantity of the lower middle order to get the tourists over the line.
Craig Kieswetter and Joe Root, batting out his first innings in ODIs, went about the precarious repair process.
Although the pair soaked up the pressure created by the loss of three quick wickets, the scoring rate barely moved. Kieswetter, in particular, was unable seemingly to rotate the strike and at one stage had scored just one off 19 deliveries.
England were slipping further behind and something had to give.
When Kieswetter was out for 18 chipping Ashwin to mid-wicket followed by a battling Root, on 36, bowled by Jadeja, the match was all but over.
Woakes was caught in front for a duck in the following Jadeja over bringing Tredwell to the crease.
The 30-year-old lasted ten balls for one before being out leg-before off Ashwin. Finn was out next ball caught behind to leave Dernbach to negotiate the hat-trick ball.
However, when the tailender was run out with senior partner Patel trying retian the strike, England were all-out.
